True Utility Connect Every Day Carry
If you are looking to build an Every Day Carry (EDC) that you can bring with you to be prepared for day-to-day emergencies you need a good small pack to hold it all. Our friends over at True Utility have just released a new EDC pack called Connect that can help you keep all your gear organized and keep you ready.
Nowadays we wind up leaving the house with more than a few dollars in our pockets...cell phones, a slew of credit cards, pens, keys, pocketknife, etc etc etc...So how do you keep it all together in a way thats organized and easily accessible? You need the right kind of small pack to do it - one that has several different types of pockets and hold-down points. The Connect EDC fits the bill nicely. It's well laid out and unique from other EDC's we've tried in the past. For starters it has a small mesh pocket on the outside and hooks for attaching the included shoulder strap.
On the back there are belt loops. No MOLLE attachments BTW.
I decided to put a pair of headphones in that front mesh pocket because there are two cable pass-throughs to the front side.
The cable comes through to an inside pocket where you can stash your phone, a wallet and some ID's.
They also have a little earbud pocket on the top inside. ID holder on the top.
On the other side of the pack you have a fully opening zipper. Lots of storage options here: hold-down straps, and two back pockets. This is where your main load-out is. Along the top is a loop for a carabiner and a key ring locking hook. I like the high-viz orange interior.
You have about a zillion different options in what you can put in here. I keep a flashlight, some cordage, and tools. If you want ideas for items to include in an EDC kit, take a look at our page about it.
A small USB battery sits next to a Gotenna. USB key and UST Whistle live there too.
This is a great little pack. And very reasonable at $25.77 at the time of writing. It's made from a lighter material than some other EDC's we've tested, so it's slight less durable but weighs less so consider your needs when picking small bags. Overall I think it's nearly perfect though, my only suggestion would be to add velcro to the front for an ID or Morale patch, and maybe some MOLLE connections. Certainly not deal-breakers though.
